Billing Your Clients
Charge your clients through the platform — connect Stripe, build packages, take payments, and track revenue.
AI Agency Unlocked can collect money from your clients for you. You build packages at your own prices, put a client on one, and the platform charges their card on a schedule and pays you out. This page covers that side of billing — money flowing from your clients to you.
That's separate from Fuel, which is what you spend running agents. See Agent Fuel & Billing for that.
Where Everything Lives
The Billing section of the sidebar holds the whole flow:
- Packages — the plans you sell, plus coupons and signup links
- Billing — connecting your payment account, and your own plan
- Usage — what your agents are consuming
- Earnings — revenue, margin, and profitability per client
- Invoices — one-off charges outside a package
A single client's billing lives on their own record: open the client, then the Billing tab.
Step One: Connect Your Payment Account
Before you can charge anyone, connect a Stripe account. Go to Billing and follow Start Billing Your Clients. You'll be handed to Stripe to enter your business and bank details, then returned to the platform.
The banner tells you where you stand:
- Complete Your Stripe Setup — you started but didn't finish. Pick up where you left off.
- Account Under Review — Stripe is verifying you. Usually one to two business days, and the status updates on its own.
- Client Billing Active — you're live and can charge clients.
- Action Required — Stripe needs more information before it will keep processing. Handle this promptly.
- Client Billing Paused — you've switched billing off for every client. Nothing is charged while this is on.
Money from your clients goes to your Stripe account, not ours. The platform takes a small percentage fee on each payment (1% by default) and Stripe takes its own processing fee.
Building Packages
A package is a plan you sell. Go to Packages and create one. There are three shapes:
- Flat — the same amount every cycle. The simplest, and what most agencies use.
- Usage — the client pays for what they actually use, billed per minute or per call.
- Hybrid — a base fee that includes an allowance, then an overage rate once they pass it.
Each package can also carry:
- Billing interval — monthly, quarterly, or weekly
- Setup fee — a one-time amount charged on the first invoice
- Free trial — a number of days before the first real charge
- Included allowances — minutes, SMS segments, and MMS per month, with overage rates once exceeded, or unlimited
- Limits — a daily cap on outbound calls, and a monthly broadcast cap
- Highlights — the marketing bullets a client sees when they sign up
The Name is what the client sees. The internal label is for you and is never shown to customers.
Putting a Client on a Package
Open the client, go to the Billing tab, and assign a package. The client needs a card on file before billing can start — the tab shows No card on file until one is added.
Once assigned, the tab shows their Billing Status, Total Revenue, and Margin (what they pay you against what they cost you to run). You can change their package later from the same tab.
Signup Links
Instead of adding a client and collecting card details yourself, you can send them a link. On the Packages page, open the Signup Links tab and create one against a package.
The client opens the link, enters their details and card, and is created and subscribed automatically. The tab tracks how many signups each link has produced.
Coupons
Coupons live on the Coupons tab of the Packages page. A coupon can take a percentage off or a fixed amount off, and applies either once, repeating for a set number of months, or forever.
You choose what it applies to: all charges, packages only, setup fees only, or custom charges only. You can also cap total redemptions and give it an expiry date.
One-Off Charges
For work outside a package — a build, extra support, a one-time overage — use Invoices in the sidebar. Create a New Charge against a client with an amount, description, and category (setup, custom work, maintenance, support, overage, or other).
You can charge the card on file immediately, or send it as an invoice for them to pay. A coupon can be applied to the charge before it goes out. Charges you've already collected can be refunded from the same screen.
Watching the Money
Earnings is where you see whether the business works. It shows monthly recurring revenue and a forecast, average revenue per client, churn, net profit, and average margin — plus your most and least profitable clients, so you can see which relationships are carrying the others.
Margin compares what a client pays you against what their agents cost to run, so a cheap package on a heavy-usage client will show up here before it becomes a problem.
When a Payment Fails
If a client's card is declined, their plan moves to past due and they're emailed a reminder automatically, with follow-ups over the following days if it stays unpaid. The client shows a payment issue on your dashboard so you can step in.
You have three options at that point:
- Ask them to update their card — the fastest fix, and billing resumes on its own.
- Pause them — stops the retries and the reminder emails without ending the relationship. See Managing Clients.
- Cancel — ends the plan for good.
Pausing All Billing at Once
The Pause Billing button on the Billing page switches off billing for every client — useful if you're changing payment accounts or sorting out a problem, and heavy-handed for anything else. While it's on, no client is charged and you can't resume an individual client until you turn it back on.
To stop billing for one client, pause that client instead.
Common Questions
Do my clients see Gary Club or AI Agency Unlocked?
No. Billing emails and the client portal carry your agency's branding. See White-Label Experience.
When do I get paid?
Payouts come from your own Stripe account on Stripe's schedule. Open your Stripe dashboard from the Billing page to see them.
What if I already bill clients elsewhere?
You don't have to use this. Manage clients on the platform and keep invoicing however you do today — client billing is optional.
Can I change a client's price without changing the package?
Yes. Assign a different package, or use a coupon for an ongoing discount on their existing one.
