What Are Templates?

Templates are pre-built AI agent configurations designed for specific industries and business types. Instead of building an agent from scratch, you pick a template that matches your client's business, customize a few details, and you're ready to go.

Each template includes a professionally written system prompt, suggested greeting, common FAQs, call-handling instructions, and industry-specific vocabulary. Think of them as blueprints β€” they give you a massive head start so you can deploy agents in minutes, not hours.

Tip: Templates are a starting point, not a finished product. Always review and personalize the prompt, greeting, and FAQs for each client. The best-performing agents have details unique to that business β€” their hours, their services, their personality.

The Template Marketplace

The Template Marketplace lives inside your Agency Portal under the Templates tab. It organizes 145 ready-to-use templates into 19 industry categories, covering virtually every type of local business you'll encounter.

Note: 145 templates with 2,175 variables covering virtually every local business type. If you can't find an exact match, pick the closest one and tweak it β€” that's still faster than starting from zero.

Browsing Templates

Finding the right template is quick and intuitive:

Open the Template Marketplace

From your Agency Portal sidebar, click Templates. You'll see the full marketplace with category filters on the left and a search bar at the top.

Filter by Category

Click any of the 19 industry categories to narrow the list. For example, selecting Automotive shows all 8 automotive templates β€” from oil change shops to full-service dealerships.

Search by Keyword

Looking for something specific? Type a keyword like "dentist," "roofing," or "dog grooming" into the search bar. Results update instantly.

Preview a Template

Click any template card to open a detailed preview. You'll see the system prompt, sample greeting, included FAQs, and a list of variables you'll need to fill in.

Template Details

Every template includes several components that work together to create a complete agent configuration:

ComponentWhat It Contains
System PromptThe core instructions that define how the agent behaves, what it knows, and how it responds to callers.
GreetingThe opening message the agent uses when answering a call β€” usually includes the business name and a friendly welcome.
FAQsCommon questions and answers specific to that industry. A plumbing template might include "Do you handle emergencies?" while a dental template covers "Do you accept insurance?"
VariablesPlaceholder fields (like {{business_name}}, {{hours}}, {{services}}) that you fill in with the client's real information.
Call InstructionsRules for how the agent handles transfers, takes messages, or escalates urgent calls.

Using a Template

Once you've found the right template, putting it to work takes just a few steps:

Click "Use Template"

From the template preview, click the Use Template button. This creates a new agent pre-filled with the template's configuration.

Fill in the Variables

The system highlights every variable that needs your client's information. Replace {{business_name}} with "Riverside Plumbing," {{hours}} with "Mon–Fri 7 AM – 6 PM," and so on.

Personalize the Prompt

Read through the system prompt and tweak anything that doesn't fit. Maybe your plumber also does water heater installation β€” add that. Maybe they don't do commercial work β€” remove that section.

Review the Greeting

Make sure the greeting sounds natural for this particular business. A friendly neighborhood plumber might say "Hey there!" while a law firm would prefer "Thank you for calling."

Test and Deploy

Use the built-in test call feature to hear how the agent sounds, then assign a phone number and go live.

Tip: The fastest agencies keep a shortlist of their top 5–10 most-used templates. If you primarily serve home service businesses, you'll find yourself reaching for the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical templates over and over. Bookmark your favorites so you can spin up new agents in under five minutes.
