Sequences auto-pause on reply

Inbound replies automatically pause active sequences for that contact. Stops the "robot just kept hammering them" failure mode.

Every active sequence enrollment now auto-pauses when the contact replies. Works for both SMS and email channels.

Why this matters

Before this, an automated sequence could keep firing follow-ups while the prospect was already mid-conversation with you. Embarrassing at best, a deal-killer at worst. Auto-pause-on-reply means every inbound reply puts the brakes on.

Behavior

  • Inbound SMS to any number you own → all sequences enrolling that contact pause.
  • Inbound email to any connected Gmail account → same.
  • Pause ≠ unenroll. Resume manually from the contact''s Sequences tab if you want to continue.
  • Activity row logged with activity_type = list_left and outcome = inbound_reply_autopause.

Disable per-sequence

If you have a sequence where this behavior is wrong (e.g. an order-status drip that shouldn''t pause on a thank-you reply), open the sequence settings and toggle Pause on inbound reply off.
